All families, including LGBT families, are protected by the Family Medical Leave Act

In another step towards greater equality for LGBT Americans, the Department of Labor under the stewardship of Secretary Solis, has clarified the definition of ‘son or daughter’ under the Family Medical Leave Act ensuring that LGBT parents and partners regardless of biological relationship or legal status can take leave from work to care for their child, parent or spouse just as a biological or straight family member could.
